Teeth Cleanings
Teeth cleanings are usually performed every 6 months for adults and children ages 4 and up. A professional teeth cleaning treatment by a certified dental hygienist aims to remove plaque, tarter, and stains that have accumulated on teeth. Even with routine brushing and flossing of your teeth and gums, dental plaque and bacteria can build up and harden into tartar. Our Grand Rapids dentist and his team will be able to help keep your teeth healthy and radiant
Preventative Dentistry
To keep your teeth healthy, we recommend scheduling a dental cleaning appointment every six months. During a teeth cleaning, one of our dental hygienists will do a preliminary examination of your mouth to make sure there are no obvious oral health issues. If they spot something, they will alert our Grand Rapids family dentist before continuing the teeth cleaning.
The next step in quality teeth cleanings is to use a special tool called a scaler to gently scrape away plaque and tartar that could be hiding in between teeth or along the gum line. The hygienist then uses a high powered toothbrush to polish the surface of your teeth. The toothpaste we use is gritty to give your teeth a gentle scrubbing. The hygienist will then floss your teeth and ask you to rinse.
